I cannot express how thrilled I was when I saw the front page of last week’s Sunday Styles section. Right there, front and center, was my ultimate girl crush – Ulyana Sergeenko. Ulyana is a designer/photographer/street style darling (I’ve written about here before in this post) and one of the lovely ladies featured in this week’s Weekend Reading selection. The article is titled ‘The Czarinas Are Back’ and talks about the recent influx of Russian fashionistas on the style scene. These ladies are editors, stylists and writers in addition to being die-hard luxury consumers. Being born in Eastern Europe, I have always kept an eye on Russia’s small yet extremely talented group of fashionistas and couldn’t be happier that they’re getting the notice they deserve. Full New York Times article, right this way!
1. This week Ulyana presented her couture collection in Paris – the only way I can describe it is “Soviet Military Chic” at it’s best! View the full collection here.
2. A while back, the talented folks over at The Coveteur photographed some of Miroslava Duma’s (a prominent member of the Russian “it” girl crew) gorgeous belongings during a stay at The Plaza for NY Fashion Week – here are the drool worthy photos from the shoot.
3. The lovely Erin of LikeWantNeed posted this Kimbra video as part of her Tuesday Tunes series – and just when I finally got that SOMEBOOOOODY!!! song out of my head.
4. I devoured The Perks of Being a Wallflower in two nights. Yes, I know it’s a short book . But seriously, I couldn’t put it down. I can not recommend this book enough – especially since the film adaptation is coming out soon! Please read it so we can all collectively gush about how amazing it is!
Happy Weekend everyone!

Well aren’t you just the cutest thing! And Kimbra, she’s cute too. I love your round-ups. That first shot of Ulyana, she looks like she’s saying “Yeah, I’m hot” as she’s strolling. She just exudes confidence! And she should, she’s stunning. I wish I’d gotten the Sunday Times last week! I started a new subscription and it was supposed to be delivered last Sunday but they never did (I got a credit for it, but I’d rather have had the paper!).
I read The Perks of Being a Wallflower in high school, and was sort of lukewarm on it, having read Catcher in the Rye before it. It seemed like a modern day version of Holden Caulfield to me, only more emo, haha. I’m interested in the movie adaptation, though! How do I always miss these things?? Have a great weekend, Kate!
PS. You were born in Europe? Where? I’m so curious!
Erin –
I agree, the similarities are there. BUT. I read The Catcher in The Rye in HS and did not like it. I even re-read it a few years ago just to make sure I didn’t like it. Theres something about Charlie that was so sweet and relatable that I didn’t find in Holden.
The movie looks great – I couldn’t be happier with the casting choices!
Kate
Have a lovely weekend! I can’t wait to take a look at your links! x

Thank you for the intro to Ulyana. She is stunning and her collection is beautiful. Did you know my favorite color is red? So, all the pops of red in the collection are making me very happy.
Hm, I have never read The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I’m definitely interested in reading the book after reading the quick exchange between you and Erin. (I am a fan of Catcher in the Rye.)
Hope you had a wonderful weekend, Kate!
PS~Thank you for the Getty recommendation. I’m adding it to our summer Friday fun list.
