Then + Now: the peplum

First of all, I’m so thrilled and honored to be a part of Victoria’s Behind the Scenes series today! So head on over to VMAC & Cheese to learn a little more about me!

We all know fashion is cyclical, and this season we’ve seen several trends that have come full circle – the rounded shoulder jacket, the retro crop top and Deco design elements were all staples of the Spring shows (check out my Art Deco inspired guest post for Apartment 34). In my opinion, the breakaway hit of this season is the peplum. Starting with Christian Dior’s “new look” of the 1940′s, the peplum has had not one but two major come-backs. The first in the 1980′s, along with some favorites like fingerless gloves, parachute pants and oversized shoulder pads. Now the peplum is back for round three with no intention of going away any time soon!

I love how you’ve pulled this together! The 2 ladies wearing peplum tops now look so great- and current. I previously viewed this look as too trendy for my casual wardrobe, but am definitely rethinking it now. Thanks Kate! I also loved learning more about you today over on vmac & cheese!
