The power of lipstick

I’ve always loved lipstick. As a kid I would stand in the drug store make-up aisles, hypnotized by all the luscious, creamy shades offered by Maybelline, Covergirl and L’Oreal. By the time high school rolled around – when I was dying my hair with Manic Panic and piercing various parts of my head – the only lipstick I wore was of the black and deep purple variety. Yes – I was THAT girl. My look evolved (thank god) and so did my taste in make-up. To this day, I’m amazed at the way a smear of lipstick can transform a look. Red when I’m feeling particularly powerful or need a burst of confidence. Plum when I want to add that extra edge to my outfit. Or tangerine to add a pop of color to a plain old t-shirt and jeans. One of the biggest trends for Spring is color, and lots of it. An easy way to bring color into a look while transitioning to Spring is through lipstick. Shades of pinks, violets and tangerines were seen all over the runways and can be easily incorporated in to a wardrobe through the right shade of lip color.

Lovely! I would go for the tangerine.

  2. What a pretty post! I am always on the hunt for the “right” lipstick and feel like I never totally get it.
