Fair Warning: this is where you all meet my dorky side. I am a certified Mad Men fiend. My husband and I didn’t get on the Mad Men band wagon until after season 4 was over. We bit the bullet and decided to see what all the hoopla was about. In a span of one weekend we polished off the entire first season and the remaining 3 the following week. Ever since then I’ve been anxiously awaiting the return of Don, Peggy, Roger and the rest of the Sterling Cooper crew. So to celebrate the premier of season 5 of Mad Men this Sunday, I am hereby proclaiming this week MAD WEEK here at TFW. To kick things off I wanted to pay homage to the leading ladies of Mad Men: Betty, Joan and Peggy. Costume designer Janie Bryant does an impeccable job of designing a look for each of the ladies that clearly defines their individual characters – you would never see Joan and Betty fighting over each others wardrobes. So, for day one of MAD WEEK I thought it would be fun to put together a contemporary look for each of the ladies but still keep to their signature styles from the show. Yes, I know…total dork. I warned you.
1. Tibi leather & stretch jersey top – nothing sexier that a form-fitting leather top to go with that tight as a glove pencil skirt 2. Low Luv x Erin Wasson black jade pendant necklace – Joan’s signature piece of jewelry, she usually wears a necklace or a brooch to accent her bosom area. 3. Mark Cross Scottie small satchel 4. Charlotte Olympia metallic platforms 5. Donna Karan draped jersey pencil skirt – Joan’s signature pencil skirt in a rich red keeping true to Joan’s jewel tone color pallet
1. Topshop neon denim biker jacket – Betty has a feisty side and this jacket is the perfect combo of pastel and bad-ass 2. Equipment signature sleeveless shirt – she would wear this buttoned all the way up under the moto jacket 3. F-Troup rubber lace up – classic yet fun flats for taking the kids to the park 4. ACNE romantic printed taffeta skirt – a modern-day circle skirt 5. Chanel large flap bag – I just know Betty has a collection of these
1. Melene Birger Ilyas sequined crepe top – a sparkly version of betty’s round collar shirts. 2. Juliet & Company pearl bracelet set – in place of Peggy’s signature string of pearls 3. ZARA patent leather shopper 4. J.Crew patent loafers – the perfect comfy shoe for late nights at the office 5. J.Crew cafe capri pant

I got on the bandwagon WAY late also – we watched a few episodes last night, we are only on season 2! I’m going to be VERY busy this week with my tv watching schedule. Very cute outfit picks!
Wow! I’m really enjoying your blog. I love how everything is laid out. I’m actually terrified of getting involved in another show. I think my DVR list is already jammed!
