LIFE in the 1960′s

These photographs by Bill Eppridge were taken for a 1965 issue of LIFE magazine spotlighting the emerging sport of skateboarding, which has actually been around since the 1940′s. I love the images of kids skateboarding down the streets of NYC and guys in suits cruising through Central Park as spectators watched on in amazement. I had no idea that the sport dated so far back much less that it was so popular!
