Having a moment: Red, white and blue

Resort season street style looks are always more mellow than the extravagantly lavish Spring and Fall shows. Since the Resort collections are presented smack in the middle of  Summer and aren’t as grand as Spring/Summer shows, the looks are more relaxed and casual. Looking over last week’s street style shots, one trend stood out to me more than anything else – going back to basics. More specifically, basic colors like the forever classic (and patriotic) combination of red, white and blue.

Red white and blue street styleFor me, the color combination goes hand in hand with nautical themes, which is why I just couldn’t help but add a little stripe action when putting this outfit together. What do you guys think…would you wear a red, white and blue outfit on any day other than the 4th of July or does it scream stars and stripes??

Red white and blue inspired look

1. The J.Crew skirt is what keeps this whole outfit together, giving it a slight nautical feel. 2. As basic as it gets T by Alexander Wang slub linen tank is the perfect summer layering piece 3. Thakoon Addition Maui printed sweatshirt – I LOVE this piece, such an easy throw-on. 4. Cambridge Satchel Co. white satchel, just like it’s neon counterpart was the “it” bag a few seasons ago – I have a feeling this guy will be huge for Summer.  5. J.Crew anchor bead charm bracelet – ’nuff said 6. Soludos chambray espadrilles - classic and comfortable, I have them in two colors.

I think if done in just the right way, this color combination can look really great. You present perfect examples as proof. I always love a dash of red. Little red bag, a shoe…I’m in.
