So in the last month or so I’ve developed a very real Instagram obsession (you can follow @theforgetfulwife if you like). I can’t always lug around my clunky camera and to be honest all those nifty filters make my pictures look infinitely better than I ever could. So I thought it would be fun to share a few snaps of the weekend which involved a trip to Malibu and a leisurely day spent in Venice – quite eventful by our homebody standards. How was everyone else’s weekend? Do tell, do tell!
On Saturday we took a sunset drive up to Malibu to our friend Dominique’s artist reception at Canvas Boutique and Gallery. Canvas is the perfect combination of hard to find, limited edition apparel and art – if you’re local and haven’t been yet take a drive up the coast to do some shopping and take in some art all in one place. Sunday called for a very late brunch date at our recently discovered favorite Venice spot, Oscar’s Cervateca. The huevos rancheros and chilaquiles put me in a food coma. To burn off the insane amount of carbs we strolled down Abbot Kinney and stumbled upon The Flower Truck. It’s exactly what it sounds like – a mobile flower shop which will put together the arrangement of your dreams right on the spot. After coming home and finding the perfect vase for my ombre Gerbera daisy bouquet it was time to catch up on some required reading while anxiously anticipating the Mad Men finale. I’ve written about my obsession with the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce crew here, here and here. Oh, and thats green tea mochi ice-cream and blueberries in case you were wondering.

Kate,
Feels like your weekend was a perfect “material” for your charming instagrams – they are one of my favourite parts of your blog.
On the “comparing notes” mode: I spent my weekend in my friends’ summer house – walks in the woods, reading for pleasure (not for work!!!), some sun tan and a lot of great food!
Have a good week! IK.
Fab!

what a fun way to capture a weekend. love it.
Sounds like the perfect weekend. Wasn’t the weather gorgeous? Hey, your photo reminds me that I haven’t received my copy of Vanity Fair yet. What gives? Hmmm….? I hear you on the Instagram thing, it’s just so easy and we always have our phone with us. Plus, it’s such a nice and quick way to catch up on what everyone is doing. I enjoy following you.
PS~We still need to pencil in some kind of meet up. Chewing on the idea right now.
