Whenever we are blessed with such a picture-perfect weekend (which is pretty often here in Southern Cali) I get extremely snap-happy. The weekend was spent doing a little bit of everything but mainly – there was lots of indulging in good food.
I started the weekend off right by getting a much-needed haircut and color spruce up. You know how you’re supposed to get trims every 4-6 weeks or so? Yeah, I haven’t gotten a trim since last year so this was a big deal. A visit to the new Helmut Lang boutique on Melrose is always a good idea. Even though the trip across town is a pain, especially dealing with weekend traffic, the eye candy hanging off the racks is not to be missed. Sunday called for lots of good food and walking around the neighborhood. GJelina in Venice serves up a truly spectacular brunch – the parmesan and herb fingerling potatoes with truffle oil are nothing short of heavenly. And yes, those buckwheat pancakes are just as delicious as they look. A trip to Venice is not complete without an Intelligentsia coffee and a quick stop at Firefly where I scored some of that Washi Tape I keep hearing about. The rest of the day was spent on a leisurely walk with the dogs and preparing for the upcoming week. What did everyone else do over the weekend? Anything fun?
P.S. The winner for the Gift Shop Brooklyn giveaway has been announced! clicky clicky to find out who the lucky gal is.

Looks like you had a wonderful weekend! I spent time in Dallas lunching at Neiman Marcus and doing a bit of shopping for my birthday- a perfect day, and then lounged around yesterday. Also, I can definitely sympathize with your haircut situation… mine is really out of hand! Hope you have a wonderful week.

Between Helmut Lang and washi tape my little heart is fluttering at full speed. I have a roll of airmail stripe washi tape that I’m waiting for the perfect occasion to bust out. What a wonderful weekend you must have had! I’m bad about getting my hair trimmed, too. I wait soo long between each cut. You look cute with all that foil in your hair (an impressive feat!). I think I’m getting a new phone tonight (eep!) and finally joining the world of Instagram. I love the idea of doing a round-up from the weekend like you and Lauren over at Still+Life do!
looks like a perfect weekend, and similar to mine! we got take out from the little JGelina place, went to the beach, and headed to West Hollywood/Beverly Hills to shop. We really have got to get together soon!!!
I love it when I have a morning or mid day couple of hours to browse in Venice. Eating at Gjelina is a real treat. For some reason, I have yet to find Intelligensia. Where is it exactly in terms of landmarks? Next to Bountiful or further down? I can never find. Teri
Sounds like the perfect weekend. I wait too long between cut-and-colors too!
I have been wanting to eat at Gjelina for some time now (and Joan’s). The one time we finally made it over to Venice, there was a huge crowd oustide Gjelina waiting to eat. We had the kids, so we didn’t even try.
We had back-to-back birthday parties over the weekend and we are all just finally catching our breath. Who knew parties could be so exhausting.
PS~I owe you a big ol’ thank you.
I knew I saw Washi Tape in there! We just got some at the art store I work at here in Glendale (AZ) and I love it. I’d love to see what you’re planning on doing with it. This sounds like such a relaxing weekend. It’s 115 here and there’s no going outside, but good food like that requires a long drive!:) Good to have found your pretty blog. I found you on Twitter:)
